Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Shelter Support Specialist. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the safety and well-being of our guests at the Daystation overnight shelter.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build trusting relationships with guests and create a welcoming environment
  • Maintain the day-to-day upkeep of the shelter, including regular cleaning and maintenance
  • Support guests in meeting the expectations and requirements of shelter programs
  • Assist guests with accessing community resources and services
  • Conduct intake questionnaires with new guests to identify needs
Requirements
  • Minimum of HS degree or equivalent required; BSW or BA in Social Work or a related field is a plus
  • At least one year of related experience is required; a combination of coursework and experience will also be considered
  • Demonstrated conflict management and de-escalation skills required
  • Ability to work with individuals with mental health, medical, substance abuse, and employment issues required
