Position Summary:

The Engineering Technician II plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operations and upkeep of manufacturing equipment and processes involved in the production of night vision image intensifiers. This position is hands-on, with the technician expected to engage with equipment and operators extensively, dedicating over 80% of their time to tasks such as building and repairing mechanical tools, as well as addressing non-conforming products. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Enhancing manufacturing processes through optimization efforts.
  • Implementing cost-reduction strategies, focusing on yield improvements and waste elimination.
  • Training production personnel to elevate work processes and product quality.
  • Addressing safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and production challenges.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, etc.) or equivalent practical experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of technical experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong analytical skills and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Experience in training others.
  • Eligibility to obtain Security Clearance.
  • Compliance with OSHA, EPA, and Fire Regulations, as well as company policies.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including off-shifts.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in assembly, review, and inspection of mechanical assemblies.
  • Familiarity with ultra-high vacuum equipment.
  • Experience in cleanroom environments.
  • Knowledge of MS Access queries.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software such as Minitab or JMP.
  • Proficiency in coding and scripting languages (e.g., Visual Studio, C#, Python).
  • Background in process improvement methodologies.
  • Six Sigma certification (Yellow, Green, or Black Belt).
