Position Summary:

The Field Service Technician is accountable for the maintenance and repair of construction machinery, component assemblies, and parts both in the workshop and on-site. Key responsibilities include diagnosing issues, ordering parts, documenting technical reports, managing warranty claims, safeguarding company assets, and ensuring effective communication with team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct repairs on machinery and components, which involves:
  1. Creating a comprehensive repair strategy and sequence
  2. Identifying required parts, materials, and tools
  3. Executing repairs safely and correctly, including thorough quality assurance testing of repaired components or systems
  • Complete all necessary documentation accurately and promptly for parts requisition, special tool usage, daily service logs, and work order finalization
  • Provide updates on repair progress to the direct supervisor as needed
  • Manage the retrieval and return of parts and materials through the company’s parts ordering system
  • Handle special tools responsibly, ensuring proper maintenance and usage of major shop equipment
  • Utilize company vehicles and service trucks appropriately
  • Keep the work area and service vehicle organized and safe
  • Maintain tools and tool carriers in a safe and efficient manner
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Follow safety protocols diligently
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.

An Associate Degree in Diesel or Equipment Technology or four years of apprenticeship experience is preferred.

Technician classification will be determined based on experience, knowledge, and skills.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must be able to sit, stand, walk, and use hands for various tasks. The role requires reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, lifting, crouching, and crawling, along with effective communication skills.

Work Environment:
