Medical Specimen Collector

We are seeking a skilled Medical Specimen Collector to join our team at Iredell Memorial Hospital Incorporated. As a Medical Specimen Collector, you will be responsible for collecting blood and other specimens from patients of all ages.

This is a PRN position, meaning you will work as needed, on various shifts including 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift. You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to providing quality patient care.

• Collect blood and other specimens from patients using professional techniques and equipment.
• Perform registration and clerical functions for the department.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information with discretion.
• Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate specimen collection and processing.

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• You must have completed a phlebotomy training course or have significant relevant experience working as a phlebotomist in a healthcare setting.
• A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a laboratory, hospital, or doctor's office with some phlebotomy experience is preferred.
• Certification from a national accrediting agency such as ASCP, ASPT, or National Phlebotomy Association is required upon hire.
• BLS certification is also required and must be maintained and renewed within 90 days before expiration date.

You will be required to lift and carry up to 15 pounds and possess a full range of body motion to pass basic FIT test, which includes walking, kneeling, standing, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching, and sitting for extended periods.

The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 - $55,000 per year, based on industry standards and location.
