Job Title: Early Childhood Education Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly qualified Early Childhood Education Specialist to join our team at Contra Costa Community College District. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising a developmental curriculum for preschool children in our Early Childhood Education Laboratories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a model preschool program that meets the needs of young children and their families.
  • Provide learning opportunities and activities to children in a developmental children's center/laboratory/school in areas such as art, music, language and literacy, math and science, and outside activities.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding the behavior and activities of children, and assess and evaluate the developmental progress of children.
  • Assist early childhood education students in acquiring and developing skills and knowledge used in teaching and planning a curriculum.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for children within the school setting.

Requirements:

  • Four (4) years of responsible work experience planning and implementing programs for preschool children.
  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in early childhood education or child development, with a minimum of twenty-four (24) units in early childhood education.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, current infant/child CPR and first aid certificates.
  • Fingerprint clearance for all appropriate agencies including FBI, Department of Justice, and Child Abuse Index Services.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work experience mentoring student teachers or staff in an early childhood education environment.
  • Completed Infant/Toddler coursework.
  • Currently hold a Master Teacher Level (or above) Permit.
  • Certification or AS degree in Montessori Education.
