Microbiology Medical Laboratory Technologist

Hudson Regional Hospital is looking for a dedicated Microbiology Medical Laboratory Technologist to enhance our laboratory team. In this pivotal role, you will be tasked with executing a range of diagnostic testing on biological specimens, including blood and urine. Your responsibilities will encompass the accurate processing of specimens, adherence to quality assurance protocols, and the upkeep of laboratory equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform both automated and manual laboratory tests
  • Assess specimen/test requests for validity
  • Achieve designated turnaround times and productivity benchmarks
  • Identify and rectify discrepancies or issues
  • Utilize laboratory testing apparatus effectively
  • Ensure proper calibration and quality control of equipment
  • Conduct proficiency assessments and quality evaluations
  • Adhere to all regulatory standards
  • Support the training of new staff members
  • Engage in educational activities for students
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology or a related field
  • At least one year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) from ASCP or an equivalent body is preferred
