Clinical Laboratory Technologist Job Overview

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform both automated and manual testing on various biological specimens including blood, urine, and other fluids.
  • Assess specimen/test requests for proper acceptance and accurately process samples.
  • Achieve established turnaround times (TAT) and productivity benchmarks.
  • Identify and rectify errors or discrepancies, promptly informing relevant personnel.
  • Utilize laboratory testing equipment, troubleshoot issues, and resolve instrument malfunctions.
  • Ensure the optimal operation, upkeep, and quality assurance of laboratory instruments.
  • Conduct proficiency assessments and quality control audits.
  • Adhere to applicable regulations and industry standards to maintain compliance.
  • Support the training of new staff and provide educational guidance to students.
  • Follow established safety protocols and departmental policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology or a related field.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) from ASCP or an equivalent body is preferred.
  • Candidates with degrees from international institutions must undergo credential equivalency evaluation.
