Position Summary:
The Lifeguard Instructor plays a crucial role in preparing aspiring lifeguards for their StarGuard Elite Certification. As the initial representatives of our organization, Instructors have the vital responsibility to exemplify professionalism and safety standards for new lifeguards. They collaborate closely with the Director of Training and District Managers to ensure a secure and effective aquatic training environment. Comprehensive training and certification for the instructor role will be provided, although prior lifeguard experience is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in foundational and ongoing training sessions for lifeguard instruction and safety practices.
- Exhibit a professional appearance and conduct, adhering to uniform guidelines.
- Conduct group training sessions focused on lifeguarding skills appropriate to the participants' levels.
- Assess the performance of lifeguard trainees.
- Ensure the training facility and classroom are maintained in a clean, safe, and organized manner.
- Perform routine safety inspections of pool and deck areas.
- Maintain vigilance for potential hazards in the aquatic environment and address any issues promptly.
- Keep accurate records of daily attendance and skill evaluations.
- Inform the Director of Training and District Managers in case of emergencies or significant incidents.
- Document all accident, injury, incident, and rescue reports thoroughly.
- Safeguard all training materials and equipment related to StarGuard Elite and Midwest Pool Management.
- Facilitate the completion of required assessments as per StarGuard Elite training protocols.
- Assist in the organization and participation of mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.
The Lifeguard Instructor training course will be conducted for Instructors to achieve their Lifeguard Instructor Certification prior to leading Lifeguard Classes. Lifeguard training sessions will commence in January and continue throughout the summer season. For further opportunities within our organization, please refer to our website.
