Job Overview

MP Materials Corp. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Magnetics team in planning and executing a strategy for manufacturing rare earth magnets in North America.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Magnetics team to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for rare earth magnet production.
  • Lead internally and externally sponsored projects focused on the electrowinning of rare earth metals and the production of Neodymium rare earth magnet alloys.
  • Act as the technical subject matter expert for electrolytic reduction of rare earth oxides and the production of rare earth magnet alloys, guiding technical staff in developing materials for specific uses.
  • Oversee the design, building, commissioning, and operation of rare earth reduction and refining processes and rare earth magnet alloy production.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers for electrochemical and metallurgical alloying equipment, and manage the installation and commissioning of equipment by these suppliers.
  • Monitor the quality of manufacturing outputs and oversee daily operating, maintenance, and troubleshooting of relevant industrial equipment and processes.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Material Science and Engineering or a related field.
  • At least two (2) years of post-baccalaureate experience as a Technical Manager, Quality Manager, or a related position within the rare earth materials field.
  • Experience in strip casting furnace, rare earth electrolysis cells, hydrogen decrepitation furnace, strip casting NdFeB alloys for permanent magnet, and extractive metallurgy of rare earth metals for permanent magnets.
