About the Role

The Senior Research Accountant will provide support to the Mid Atlantic Permanente Research Institute (MAPRI) for the maintenance and reporting of the General Accounting Subledger. Key responsibilities include:

  • Participating in the month-end close process, calculating and recording entries in the general ledger, and reviewing and validating source data for all journal entries.
  • Preparing and reviewing journal entries in a timely manner for the Research Accountant Manager to review.
  • Identifying account trends and performing month-end variance analysis.
  • Ensuring the general ledger and subledger are reconciled and reconciling items are resolved.
  • Creating internal financial reports (operations, trial balance, and balance sheet) for reporting and review purposes.
  • Partnering with external auditors during audit periods.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of accounting experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage highly delicate and controversial issues while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead professionals and manage others through influence and collaboration.
  • Must be able to commute to Rockville, MD on an as-needed basis.
  • Candidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.
  • Must provide documentation of the Covid vaccine 2-dose series (or J&J 1-dose) prior to October 1, 2023, or documentation for 1-dose of the most current Covid vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) as a condition of employment.
  • Must provide documentation for the influenza vaccine as a condition of employment.
