Position Summary:
We are seeking a Creative Arts Educator to join our team. This role involves working under the guidance of the principal to develop and implement an engaging educational program tailored to the individual education plans (IEPs) of our students. The Creative Arts Educator will facilitate artistic activities that promote personal growth in perceptual and social/emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspire individuals and groups to use art as a tool for self-expression, enhancing fine motor skills, cognitive abilities, and social development.
- Introduce various art media and techniques to encourage decision-making and sensory exploration.
- Establish an effective classroom management system that fosters a positive learning environment.
- Design and organize lessons and classroom spaces to cater to the diverse needs of students.
- Utilize appropriate art methods and materials to support student success.
- Manage the ordering and use of art supplies and equipment efficiently.
- Create and maintain an art center that showcases student work and encourages creativity.
- Keep detailed progress reports to assess student growth, behavior, and needs.
- Foster strong relationships among parents, teachers, and students.
- Submit weekly lesson plans to the principal for review.
- Maintain a structured yet supportive classroom atmosphere.
- Encourage positive self-growth in students through constructive discipline.
- Participate in annual training for Primary Restraint Techniques (PRT).
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
- 1-3 years of relevant teaching experience.
- Valid NJ Teacher Certification.
- Proven experience working with children, along with strong art and communication skills.
- Art Certification is preferred but not mandatory.
