Key Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of the department manager, perform testing by monitoring the work of laboratory technicians, entering test results into the laboratory computer, performing instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, answering telephones, collecting blood specimens, and maintaining a clean and stocked work area.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, caregivers, and other departments, as well as to colleagues.
- Perform laboratory tests, quality control testing, and monitor the work of laboratory staff.
- Adhere to laboratory standard operating procedures and policies.
- Perform laboratory computer operations to request laboratory tests, access patient results, and enter patient results.
- Process patient workload accurately and efficiently.
- Send specimens to reference labs as needed for testing.
- Perform instrument troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on instruments and equipment according to established schedules and procedures.
- Complete competency testing as given by Laboratory Management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in medical technology, biology, chemistry, or physical sciences.
- Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a medical technologist, medical laboratory scientist, or international medical laboratory scientist.
