Position Overview:
As a vital member of the Pediatric Cardiology team, the Pediatric Echocardiography Specialist will be responsible for conducting echocardiographic assessments on patients of all ages, including infants and children, with suspected or confirmed congenital heart conditions.
Work Environment:
This role is based in a collaborative hospital setting, where teamwork and communication are essential for delivering high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Conduct comprehensive echocardiographic examinations and provide timely preliminary interpretations for patients referred for evaluation of congenital and acquired heart diseases.
2.Capture essential imaging and Doppler data to assess complex congenital heart anomalies, including evaluations for surgical interventions and device placements.
3. Maintain accurate records of performed studies in accordance with established protocols. 4. Collaborate with clinical teams to correlate findings with previous echocardiographic studies. 5. Prepare echocardiography materials for educational and clinical discussions. 6. Mentor and train medical residents, fellows, and students in echocardiographic techniques. 7. Perform electrocardiograms as required. 8. Participate in rotations to offsite clinics as necessary. 9.Ensure accurate coding of procedures and diagnoses, adhering to cardiology guidelines.
10.Demonstrate professionalism and effective communication skills when interacting with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
11. Participate in the maintenance and upkeep of echocardiography equipment. 12.Regularly inspect and clean echocardiographic devices to ensure optimal functionality.
13. Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum of two years of college education or ten years of relevant experience.
- Certification as RDMS or RDCS in pediatric or adult cardiology.
- Current CPR certification.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Advanced understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and related pathologies.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Capacity to quickly learn and adapt to new challenges.
Preferred:
- Associate's degree in cardiac technology or a related field.
- Registry in pediatric and fetal echocardiography.
- Experience in pediatric echocardiography.
- Experience in fetal echocardiography.
- Four years of echocardiography experience with the ability to handle independent call responsibilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to transport echocardiography equipment throughout the facility.
- Experience in adult and pediatric cardiology.
- Leadership skills to guide and mentor junior staff.
- Contribute to staff scheduling and clinic operations.
- Responsible for performance evaluations and process improvements.
