Job Description
As a Cardiac Sonographer I in the Pediatric Heart Station at The University of Chicago Medicine, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality echocardiography services to pediatric patients. Under the direct supervision of a Cardiac Sonographer II or III and the general supervision of the Medical Director of the Noninvasive Cardiac Imaging Laboratory, you will perform pediatric transthoracic echocardiography studies and other aspects of echocardiographic imaging.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for transthoracic echo and stress echo procedures, reviewing indications and communicating with patients and staff in a respectful and compassionate manner.
- Utilize the Xcelera data archiving system and Electronic Medical Records system to record, charge, and report procedures.
- Participate in process improvement activities and contribute to research and publications to stay at the forefront of the field.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Successful completion of clinical hours at an accredited lab.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Registry status with either Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.
Job Details
- Job Type/FTE: Full-Time, 1.0FTE.
- Shift: Day, 10 hours.
- Unit/Department: Pediatric Heart Station.
- CBA Code: Non-Union.
In this role, you will work approximately 10 hours per week, with a mix of regular shifts and on-call duties. You will be scheduled to work primarily at the Hyde Park campus and will be required to work between Monday and Friday, with occasional weekend shifts.
