Job Title: Finance and Operations Director

At the California Lawyers Association, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance and Operations Director to join our team. This is a critical role that will oversee all financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, financial analysis, regulatory filings, income taxes, and treasury. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the administrative and operational oversight of the Association.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Oversee all financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, financial analysis, regulatory filings, income taxes, and treasury.
  • Manage the Association's financial systems and processes, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to the senior leadership team and other constituents of the Association.
  • Develop and manage the Association's budget and financial plans, including multi-year financial projections.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and laws, including tax laws and accounting standards.
  • Manage the Association's cash flow and investments, including review and approval of weekly disbursements, ACH and wire transfers.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure effective financial management and control.
  • Provide financial reporting and analysis to the executive team, the Board, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee the Association's operations, including procurement and facilities management.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve financial performance and efficiency.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field.
  • CPA certification or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a leadership role in finance and accounting management, with experience supervising staff.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting, including general ledger, operations, audit, taxes, and investments.
  • Experience with high-level financial software systems, including PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP, Lawson, Prophix, etc.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and present accurate and timely financial reports.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
