Position Overview:

The Cardiovascular Ultrasound Specialist plays a crucial role in executing echocardiography procedures within our clinic. This position demands a thorough understanding of cardiovascular principles, ultrasound technology, and the ability to generate and assess cardiac ultrasound images and related data for diagnostic purposes. The specialist will serve as a vital link among staff, physicians, patients, and their families, exercising professional judgment throughout the clinical examination process. Additionally, the specialist will provide physicians with concise summaries of technical findings and educate patients accordingly. This role caters to patients across all age groups, and we are looking for candidates who are double board certified in general or vascular studies, with a willingness to train in these areas if necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct all echocardiography-related procedures in accordance with clinic protocols.
  • Utilize comprehensive knowledge of cardiovascular principles and ultrasound technology to produce and evaluate diagnostic images.
  • Act as a liaison among staff, physicians, patients, and families, demonstrating discretion and sound judgment.
  • Provide physicians with oral or written summaries of technical findings and offer patient education.
  • Perform cardiac examinations following established departmental protocols.
  • Review requisitions for accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Ensure accurate data is provided to the radiologist or cardiologist as per exam policies.
  • Document relevant information in patient records.
  • Participate in quality control and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and equipment.
  • Conduct IV insertions for contrast studies as required.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Applied Science.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a sonographer.
  • Experience in stress echocardiography and pediatric cardiac sonography is preferred.
  • Experience in general diagnostic medical or vascular sonography is advantageous.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effectively operate sonographic equipment and utilize independent judgment for optimal diagnostic outcomes.
  • Knowledge of safety and infection control protocols.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Ability to perform heavy work, including lifting and moving objects as necessary.
  • Ability to work designated shifts, including extended hours.
