Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Orthopedic Trauma Unit at Mission Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality patient care and contribute to our mission of excellence in healthcare.

About the Role
  • Manage patient care on our 32-bed Orthopedic and Orthopedic Trauma Unit, specializing in total hip and knee replacements, elective shoulder surgeries, and traumatic orthopedic injuries.
  • Administer IV antibiotics for joint infection patients and provide care for medical-surgical overflow cases.
  • Utilize telemetry monitoring to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
  • Maintain high standards of nursing care and adhere to hospital policies and procedures.

Nurse Staffing and Support
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio typically maintained at 1:5-6 for day shift and 1:6-7 for night shift.
  • LPNs assist in managing patient load, and charge nurses may provide direct patient care support.
  • Support staff includes Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and other unit personnel to ensure efficient operations.

Job Requirements
  • Provides leadership which facilitates the delivery of professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients.
  • Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise, and document care and teaching of patients and family.
  • Implements medically prescribed interventions.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or enroll in a BSN or advanced degree program and obtain a BSN within 5 years of hire date into RN position. Grandfathering will be accepted between departments and Mission Health entities. Exemptions, or extensions, may be approved by the facility CNO and reported out to the CNO Council members. Each facility will ensure tracking of exemptions should this information be needed. RNs with 10 years or more of experience are exempt.
  • Preferred Education: Masters in Nursing.
  • Required License/Certifications: Must have and maintain current licensure as registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse License Compact) license may apply, licensee should confirm with NCBON.
  • Certificate: BLS Healthcare Provider.
  • Preferred License/Certifications: National Certification in area of specialty.
  • Required Experience: One year nursing experience.
