Position Summary:

A professional caregiver who plans, provides, and directs patient care and teaching, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with patient care standards and physician orders.

He/she acts as a liaison between physicians, patient and family, and collaborates with other health care members. He/she assists in the orientation process of new personnel, and may participate in health center and department committees.

The staff nurse must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age groups according to specific chronological age, developmental age, and/or psycho-social maturity.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, provide, and direct patient care and teaching
  • Act as a liaison between physicians, patient and family
  • Collaborate with other health care members
  • Assist in the orientation process of new personnel
  • Participate in health center and department committees

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current licensure by Ohio State Board of Nursing
  • CPR certification required
  • ACLS preferred

Graduate Nurse Residency Program (GNRP):

The GNRP is a free, 12-month program based on a rolling calendar.

All new graduate RNs will sharpen their caregiving practices through the support of a preceptor/mentor, cognitive exercises, and skill labs.

This experience is designed to bridge the gap between academia and the workplace by providing a structured environment to develop knowledge of internal processes, skill, professionalism, and to increase critical thinking.

The program will help to reduce transition stress and increase job satisfaction.
