Job Description and Requirements

A Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) provides expert clinical judgment to deliver high-quality patient care and develop nursing strategies for the family medicine department at Atrium Health Charlotte. This CNS will work collaboratively with healthcare teams to implement evidence-based practices, enhance patient outcomes, and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the latest medical research and its application to family medicine practice.
  • Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to design and implement comprehensive care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Analyze patient data and identify areas for improvement in care delivery.
  • Cultivate effective relationships with patients, families, and caregivers to promote patient satisfaction and engagement in their care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to advance the quality of care and services provided by Atrium Health Charlotte.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and social needs to identify areas where specialized care can be implemented.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to the specific needs of each patient.
  • Promote best practices in pain management, symptom control, and palliative care.
  • Serve as a resource for nursing staff, providing guidance on complex cases and facilitating education opportunities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mental health and substance abuse treatment into patient care plans.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's or Doctoral degree preferred.
  • Current RN license and Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in family medicine or related field.
  • Proven expertise in developing and implementing evidence-based practice changes.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders in collaborative efforts.
Salary Range

$65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience.
