Job Overview

Salary:
The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor is tasked with overseeing the direct field management of projects, ensuring timely execution, high-quality workmanship, and adherence to safety protocols. This role collaborates with project management to establish construction timelines, monitor progress, secure subcontractors, and maintain budgetary constraints. The ideal candidate will actively engage with their team to carry out millwright, rigging, carpentry, and maintenance tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This list of responsibilities is not exhaustive and may be adjusted to include additional duties as deemed necessary by management.

  • Supervises and directs labor crew leaders, labor teams, and subcontractors.
  • Addresses staffing needs in accordance with the construction timeline.
  • Ensures availability of necessary materials, tools, equipment, and labor for scheduled tasks. Receives and verifies materials.
  • Consults with and directs subcontractors and self-performed trades in planning and executing work.
  • Effectively coordinates work phases to guarantee timely project deliverables.
  • Cultivates and manages relationships with project managers, owners, architects, inspectors, and engineers to comprehend the scope of work and assess construction progress. Leads project modifications as required.
  • Inspects ongoing work to ensure compliance with specifications and adherence to timelines.
  • Collaborates with the dedicated project manager to anticipate upcoming construction phase needs.
  • Advocates for job site safety. Holds all site personnel, including subcontractors, accountable for following all safety policies, procedures, and requirements. Reports accidents, injuries, and safety infractions.
  • Maintains compliance with the Storm Water Pollution Protection Plan (SWPPP), controlled access, hazardous waste, and safety regulations. Conducts inspections and related reporting.
  • Chairs weekly meetings with foremen on site, documenting discussions regarding safety, toolbox talks, owner feedback, required materials, compliance, scheduling, etc.
  • Develops 3 to 4-week Gantt schedules, maintaining updates on a weekly basis.
  • Completes daily progress reports and daily timesheets for site personnel.
  • Assesses progress based on labor productivity metrics and submits completed material and equipment reports.
  • Conducts weekly job site safety audits, reporting findings on a weekly basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in installations and modifications of equipment in various industrial settings.
  • Proficient in heavy rigging.
  • Skilled in optical alignment.
  • Expertise in laser alignment.
  • Welding experience and certification.
  • Knowledge of concrete demolition and placement.
  • Strong working knowledge of carpentry and related industrial remodeling and maintenance.
  • Proficient with heavy machinery (forklifts, reach forklifts, scissor lifts, etc.).

EDUCATION

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Vocational/technical/college education is preferred.
  • OSHA 30 Certification within 90 days of employment start date is required.

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE

  • 10+ years of hands-on construction experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in construction.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Proficient in using technology (e.g., tablets) and the Internet. Familiarity with Procore is desirable.
