Job Title: Database Engineer

About the Role:

WOOD Consulting Services, Inc is seeking a highly skilled Database Engineer to join our team. As a Database Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing large-scale database systems that meet the needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop database architectures that meet the requirements of our clients
  • Implement database solutions using Oracle and other relational and non-relational databases
  • Develop and maintain database documentation, including system architecture and design documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure database solutions meet business requirements
  • Perform risk assessments and analyses of alternatives for system-related issues and concerns
  • Develop solutions to challenging technical problems in distributed data replication, concurrent data access, and high availability

Requirements:

  • Must have experience as a Database Administrator, including proficiency in tasks such as data migration, data replication, user administration, backup and recovery, performance tuning, issue investigation, issue resolution, and general administration
  • Must have a good understanding of databases, primarily Oracle and/or other relational and non-relational/NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB
  • Must have experience using Oracle SQL/PLSQL, and SQL in general
  • Must have experience scripting with JavaScript, Bash/Linux shell scripting (in general), Perl, and/or Python
  • Must have knowledge of programming languages to include Java
  • Must be committed to adopting and adhering to best practices
  • Must be able to effectively plan and prioritize tasking
  • Must be capable of performing high-quality work both independently, and with a team, in a fast-moving environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline
  • At least 10 years of high-level, in-depth database experience
  • Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology and/or as a member of an Agile team
  • Experience with Cassandra
  • Experience with MongoDB
