About this Role

The Photography Lab Technician is a key member of our team at Palm Beach State College, responsible for providing setup, operation, and maintenance of the photography lab and the arts studio spaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lab Operations: Set up, organize, and maintain lab resources, including chemicals, equipment, and supplies.
  • Collaboration with Instructors: Work with instructors to align lab resources with course curriculum and provide consultation and assistance on specific matters within area of expertise.
  • Inventory Management: Plan, administer, and take physical inventories of equipment or material, including accounting records associated with inventory.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform regularly scheduled, basic maintenance on lab equipment and machinery, and arrange for repair of equipment and machinery as needed.
  • Chemical Management: Set up chemicals daily in the photography lab for classes and student use before and after class, and mix chemicals as required.
  • Safety and Compliance: Follow established safety practices and maintain a safe workplace, adhering to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Associate's degree or two years of college coursework, and one year of related experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and other Adobe programs, as well as Microsoft Office Professional or similar application.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Lifting and Carrying: Lift, carry, push, pull, install or remove objects weighing 20 to 49 pounds.
  • Standing and Walking: Stand for extended periods of time and walk between locations.
  • Visual and Auditory Demands: Use of video display terminal, identify and distinguish colors and shades of color, and communicate information orally and in writing.
