Job Details

ChristianaCare is currently recruiting for a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to work in the Cardiac Surgery Professional Services. This is a full-time position that promotes a work/life balance.

Position consists of covering cardiac surgery ICU with rotating days, nights, and on weekends as needed consisting of six 12 hr shifts and one 8 hr shift.

Responsibilities and Duties

Responsibilities and duties for the cardiac surgery patient include:

  • Consultations, pre-operative assessments, post-op critical care, daily progress notes, occasional admissions and discharges, removal of chest tubes/pacing wires/IABPs, and placement of central lines and arterial lines.

Our Cardiac Surgery program performs multiple procedures including CABG, Valve, Complex Aortic Surgeries, TAVR, Endografts, LVAD, and ECMOs.

Education and Experience Requirements

Requirements include:

  • Board certified Physician Assistant or Master's degree as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
  • One year of cardiac surgery experience preferred
  • Licensure or license eligible in the state of Delaware
  • Prescriptive authority required
  • Apply for and receive DEA number to prescribe controlled substances
  • ACLS required
