Intake Specialist

LOCATION: Akron, Ohio

PAY: $20.00/hr

Our programs guide individuals through a structured path to rehabilitation, emphasizing personal acknowledgment of their challenges, commitment to abstinence, and ongoing dedication to recovery. We take pride in supporting individuals as they reclaim control over their lives.

As an Intake Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to identify, evaluate, and assess potential clients.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining precise and comprehensive case files for each assigned client.
  • Collaborating effectively with judicial personnel to ensure all relevant offenders undergo screening.
  • Reviewing pre-sentence reports and engaging with Probation/Parole departments, law enforcement, and criminal justice organizations for insights on potential clients.
  • Ensuring that eligible inmates are screened for appropriate community intermediate sanctions.
  • Conducting and meticulously documenting screening interviews of prospective clients promptly.
  • Gathering background information from prospective clients to establish future goals and objectives, utilizing appropriate assessment tools.
  • Facilitating constructive communication while upholding a professional and supportive relationship with clients and colleagues.
  • Identifying and reinforcing prosocial thinking and behaviors within program guidelines.
  • Recognizing antisocial thoughts and behaviors, addressing them in a non-threatening manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Corrections, or a related field is required.
  • Preferred: Six (6) months of experience in Corrections and/or Social Services.
  • Experience in case management is preferred.
  • Must achieve and maintain the required proficiency level for the ORAS as certified by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections in collaboration with the University of Cincinnati.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • A valid Ohio driver's license, reliable transportation, and a driving record that meets agency insurance requirements are necessary.
  • Ability to work effectively with agency staff, external contacts, and a diverse client population, while obtaining security clearances for all correctional facilities.
  • Willingness to undergo background checks and pass a drug screening.
