Senior Environmental Scientist

Tetra Tech's Hampton Roads office is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist with at least 3 years' experience in environmental and remediation-related projects. This position supports the execution of projects targeting Department of Defense clients. About the Role:- This Scientist position provides environmental technical field support for environmental investigation and remediation projects, primarily in the areas related to remediation, fieldwork, and data interpretation/presentation.
- Evaluate environmental data to reach sound technical conclusions and present/document findings in project reports using text, figures, graphs, etc.
- Develop and assume responsibility for the execution of basic to moderately complex tasks/projects.
- Plan and oversee/perform environmental investigations and remediation projects.
- Provide field leadership role and field oversight.
- Lead field testing, multimedia sampling, and other investigation fieldwork.
- Maintain strong skills/capabilities regarding technical areas, especially in the areas of general hydrogeology and groundwater characterization/remediation.
- Provide guidance to and mentor junior staff in technical areas (including but not limited to the fields of general geology, hydrogeology, and groundwater characterization/remediation) to build overall technical capabilities of Tetra Tech staff.
- Technical report writing and data evaluation tasks.
- Assume task management role based on capabilities and experience.
- Assume supporting technical role for projects and/or programs.
- Assume supporting roles in proposals and project management task.
- Monitor Health and Safety aspects of projects and recommend changes, as necessary.
- Monitor Quality Assurance procedures and recommend necessary changes.
- Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Geology, Hydrogeology, or Environmental Science is required. Advanced degree is a plus.
- Minimum 5+ years' experience with increasing responsibility in the environmental restoration consulting market required.
- Knowledge of local and federal environmental regulations and guidance is preferred.
- CERCLA experience is plus.
- Experience with governmental projects is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Experience working on and possibly leading the preparation of technical deliverables is required.
- Professional license (e.g., PG) is preferred.
- 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour refresher training are required.
- 8-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER supervisor is plus.
- 10-Hour Construction Training is plus.
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills are required.
- Proficiency in delivering technical and business presentations is preferred.
- Successful past performance directing, and supervising subcontractors is required.
- Candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver's license in excellent standing within the company standards.
