Position Overview:
The Culinary Service Associate plays a vital role in the food service department, ensuring that meals are prepared and served efficiently to patients, visitors, and staff. This position requires a commitment to quality service and adherence to health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare food and maintain work areas in accordance with established guidelines.
- Engage with customers, fulfilling their orders and addressing any inquiries or concerns.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively, including steam tables, dish machines, and food warmers.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas.
Qualifications:
Education: A basic understanding of math and English, typically acquired through completion of an eighth-grade education, is required. The ability to read and follow instructions is essential.
Experience: A minimum of one to three months of on-the-job training is necessary to become familiar with departmental policies and procedures. Previous experience in food service is preferred.
Skills: Candidates should possess knowledge of kitchen equipment operation and the ability to read menus and work schedules. Strong interpersonal skills are required to interact effectively with patients and staff, providing courteous service.
Work Environment: This position requires flexibility to train in various roles within the food service department. Weekend work is mandatory, and the position is classified as non-exempt.
