Job Summary:

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) will work under the clinical supervision of a Physical Therapist to provide direct patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The ideal candidate will have experience in both areas and be able to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform direct patient care activities using a variety of therapeutic procedures and assistive devices.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of treatment plans.
  • Work collaboratively with Physical Therapists and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Provide education to patients and their families on proper techniques and exercises for optimal recovery.

Work Environment:

The Physical Therapist Assistant will work in a fast-paced hospital setting, with a mix of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities. The workload is approximately 50/50 between the two areas, with a regular schedule of Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. There may be occasional Saturday shifts, which would be shared among the therapy team.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, the Physical Therapist Assistant must have a strong foundation in physical therapy principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and a degree in physical therapy or a related field is preferred.
