Role Summary: In collaboration with the Market Education Director, the Nursing Education Specialist will work closely with nursing leadership and staff across various departments to assess, plan, develop, implement, facilitate, evaluate, and revise educational programs tailored for nursing and non-nursing personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support educational initiatives for assigned units/clinics, encompassing classroom instruction, clinical experiences, and the use of learning technologies.
  • Implement comprehensive educational programs to meet the orientation and ongoing competency needs of nursing staff, focusing on professional development aligned with DMC's nursing practice model.
  • Ensure that all educational programs adhere to nursing department standards and regulatory requirements, staying updated with current research and national education practice standards.
  • Provide consultation to enhance continuing education and professional development opportunities.
  • Facilitate Grand Rounds, in-services, and job-specific curricula to promote competence and professional growth among nursing staff.
  • Mentor nurse residents and support their professional development within clinical practice.
  • Participate in quality performance improvement initiatives and assist in the development of clinical policies and procedures as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Education or a related field.
  • Preferred: 2 years of nursing experience in an acute care environment.
  • Engage in departmental projects and educational activities as assigned.

Professional Development:

  • Foster the achievement of nursing education and development goals.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing, certification, and accreditation standards for educational programs.
  • Maintain ethical and professional interactions with staff, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Identify and address factors affecting staff performance, collaborating with management to implement necessary changes.
  • Build positive relationships with academic institutions to enhance DMC's reputation and partnerships.
