Position Objective:

The role involves executing various customer service tasks related to mechanical systems, piping, controls, and HVAC chilled water and hydronic heating systems. Responsibilities encompass installation, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of customer equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in all activities associated with Mechanic I.
  • Conduct soldering, burning, and perform service and repairs, including valve rebuilding, repacking, and replacement, as well as reading and interpreting mechanical diagrams.
  • Test, repair, replace, and service major components of steam, condensate, hot water, and chilled water systems, such as pumps, steam traps, heat exchangers, and hot water systems.
  • Utilize conventional tools and meters proficiently to maintain, repair, calibrate, and test components within the described systems.
  • Compile technical reports to accurately document conditions and work performed.
  • Prepare service documentation for billing and completion of service orders.
  • Develop work scope and price estimates for project-related tasks.
  • Foster and maintain positive customer relations while enhancing the company's image.

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and navigate ladders, scaffolding, and stairs.
  • Work is required in various weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors.

Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a field service role within the trades is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be trained or possess training as an Associated Asbestos Worker to carry out related duties.
  • Adherence to customer and facility regulations is essential.

Required Certifications/Licenses/Training:

  • Must hold the following licenses issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts:
    • Journeyman Pipefitter
    • Refrigeration Technician (HVAC)
    • Either Electrician or Plumber
  • A valid MA driver's license, minimum Class 3, and a clean driving record are required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to wear a half-face respirator or powered air respirators (PAPR) when safety procedures necessitate.
  • Ability to lift and operate machinery, tools, etc., weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
