New Era Technology is on the lookout for a skilled Windows Server Engineer to assist in the development, enhancement, and expansion of our server computing solutions within our private cloud. The goal is to adapt to evolving business technology requirements, deliver new functionalities promptly, and improve our overall customer satisfaction. This position is hybrid, targeting candidates in the vicinity of Jersey City, NJ, or Dallas, TX.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage in all phases of engineering and implementing the Windows Server Platform lifecycle, encompassing design, security, automation, and scalability, adhering to industry best practices and standards.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of Windows OS internals, including Group Policies, Windows Defender, and the Windows Networking stack, along with OS build engineering and deployment.
  • Demonstrate experience in engineering, managing, and supporting environments that involve Server platforms (Windows 10 and Server 2019/2022+) and VDI (Citrix, RDS) solutions.
  • Utilize automation, anomaly detection, and predictive analysis in operational processes.
  • Manage Windows Systems Management and Patch management Technologies (MECM, Group Policy, and WSUS).
  • Exhibit proficiency in one or more scripting technologies: PowerShell, VBS, SQL, and Windows Batch.
  • Experience in Windows build engineering, particularly with MECM, GitLab, Packer, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Support secure infrastructure solutions, particularly in DMZ environments.
Required Skills:
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of enterprise-level experience in engineering, maintaining, and supporting Microsoft Windows Servers.
  • Familiarity with Windows 2025 is advantageous.
  • A collaborative team player capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with public cloud environments (AWS Certified Solutions Architect or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of C#, .NET, and/or Java programming.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with remote teams and manage external vendors.
  • Familiarity with Linux, Middleware, Networks, Storage, and Email systems.
  • Focus on desktop design/build security standards, understanding common standards and their key features.
  • Deep understanding of PXE boot processes, from OSI model packet flow to bootstrapping.
  • Experience deploying to both virtual and physical devices using PXE.
  • Knowledge of Terraform and Cisco ISE would be beneficial.
  • Excellent skills in GPO configuration management; familiarity with SALT as a desired state management engine is a plus.
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting knowledge is essential for desired state management and post-deployment configuration.
Physical Requirements:
  • Regular use of hands and fingers for operating a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • Frequent repetitive movements such as typing and mouse operations.
  • Ability to hear and comprehend spoken communications, both in person and through remote communication tools.
  • Capability to see and read computer screens and printed documents, including prolonged periods of screen time.
Preferred Education:
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science from an accredited institution or equivalent training, education, and work experience.
