Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Desktop Support Specialist to join our team at Hawaiian Telcom.

As a Desktop Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing efficient assistance for computer hardware and software issues. Your responsibilities will include conducting both on-site and remote support, managing hardware installations, software upgrades, system integrations, and troubleshooting basic IT-related issues. To excel in this role, you must possess in-depth knowledge of modern operating systems and applications, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and outstanding interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver on-site and remote support across various locations as required
  • Address end user support requests and escalations from the Helpdesk efficiently
  • Handle hardware installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting tasks
  • Execute Windows software installations, patches, updates, and 3rd party applications
  • Demonstrate expertise in desktop encryption
  • Conduct workstation deployments and manage workstation images
  • Offer basic guidance on computer operation and management
  • Participate in special projects as needed
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology is preferred
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in IT
Certifications
  • Preferred certifications include Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate and A+ Certification
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency in computer hardware systems, chipsets, memory modules, and peripherals
  • Familiarity with SCCM and other endpoint support systems for imaging, software updates, and more
  • Knowledge of PowerShell, scripting, Group Policy, and Active Directory
  • Hands-on experience with Dell and HP computer hardware
  • Expertise in Windows 10 and 11 operating systems and domain environments
  • Experience with mobile devices (IOS, Android, Windows)
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues
  • Self-motivated with the capacity to work autonomously
  • Willingness to travel and provide after-hours support when necessary
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Capable of lifting 50 pounds

Salary Range

$60,000 to $84,000
