Job Summary

The Bryan Health Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care by performing medical laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses to support diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.

  • Lab Test Performance: Conduct routine laboratory tests according to established standards, policies, and procedures to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Data Analysis and Entry: Analyze test results and enter data into the computer system using laboratory standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Quality Control and Assurance: Perform and analyze quality control measures to ensure accurate clinical data and maintain the highest level of quality in laboratory testing.
  • Instrumentation and Equipment Maintenance: Maintain competency and proficiency on all laboratory instrumentation and procedures, perform preventive maintenance, and troubleshoot problems as necessary.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Communicate effectively with coworkers, clients, and leadership, transmitting ideas, information, and opinions clearly and concisely, while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Work Area Maintenance: Perform general housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring adequate supplies are available.
  • Training and Development: Participate in cross-training within laboratory divisions, assist in training new employees and students, and access and administer drugs and biologicals as necessary.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other related projects and duties as assigned to support the laboratory team.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related laboratory science from a two-year accredited college or CLIA-approved Military MLT program.
  • Certification: American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) certification as an MLT (ASCP) or equivalency is preferred.
