The Professional Nursing Resource Team (PNRT) RNs are tasked with delivering safe, continuous, and high-quality patient care across various environments. As part of a market-based nursing resource team, these RNs are assigned to different units during their shifts to ensure that patient care requirements are met within the designated facility. This group is recognized as the Regional Resource Team - RN.

PNRT RNs are skilled and proficient nurses within their specialties (medical/surgical, telemetry, critical/intermediate care, behavioral health, emergency, or women's services). They exhibit independence, rule consciousness, social boldness, and readiness for change. These nurses are dedicated to upholding professional nursing standards and fostering inter-professional collaboration. They are early adopters of Novant Health systems, technology, and workflows, serving as reliable consultants and mentors to clinical nurses while sharing insights across teams to enhance nursing practices throughout Novant Health.

Qualifications

Education : Associate Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred. BSN is highly regarded.
Experience : Required consecutive years within the defined specialty (Med Surg, Tele, Critical Care, ED, or Women's Services). Licensure/Certification : Current compact licensure in the appropriate state is required. Specialty Certification is preferred. Additional Skills Required : Strong customer service, effective communication (verbal and non-verbal), interpersonal relationship skills, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and computer literacy. Advanced training as required by department/unit/facility based on identified skill set/sub-category. Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Capability to interpret information and identify each patient's care requirements relative to their age-specific needs. Knowledge and skill necessary to modify care according to patient age. Successful completion of the Cardiac dysrhythmia test or course within three months of hire. NIH Stroke Scale certification upon hire. Specialty-specific certifications include Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) for Emergency Services, Behavioral Health, and Med Surg RNs; Women's Services – Breastfeeding course; Labor and Delivery, Antepartum RN — fetal monitoring course and breastfeeding course. Additional Skills Preferred : Specialty certification within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse plays a pivotal role as a leader of the healthcare team at Novant Health by establishing a genuine, personalized relationship with patients and their chosen support systems. Collaborating with physicians and other team members, the RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates an individualized care plan that promotes optimal health or supports a peaceful transition. Utilizing the best scientific evidence and compassion, the Registered Nurse assists patients in navigating their health journeys. The RN accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for the management and provision of care in accordance with current policies and procedures.
