Registered Cardiac Ultrasound Technician
Overview
This role requires a registered diagnostic cardiac sonographer (RDCS) or registered cardiac sonographer (RCS) credentialed by the appropriate professional organizations. The technician will conduct various cardiac ultrasound examinations under the guidance of the chief technical sonographer.
Delivering exceptional patient care is paramount, utilizing a Relationship Based Care approach to ensure safety, respect patient preferences, and maintain effective communication with patients, families, and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts 2D/Doppler echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE), and stress echocardiograms with high diagnostic quality and efficiency.
- Evaluates test results and effectively communicates findings to cardiologists both verbally and in writing.
- Operates and troubleshoots all ultrasound equipment, ensuring safe and knowledgeable handling and requesting repairs as necessary.
- Maintains proficiency in current procedures and actively engages in learning new techniques as they are introduced.
- Holds current CPR certification and, if trained, performs IV insertions while maintaining annual competency.
- Administers image-enhancing agents as directed to improve echocardiogram quality.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a healthcare or allied health setting preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Required credentials include RDCS or RCS from ARDMS or CCI, along with BLS (CPR) certification from an accredited provider.
- If operating a Cone Health vehicle, a minimum of 5 years of driving experience is required, with an approved motor vehicle record.
