The Heavy Equipment Operator - Organics Production Specialist is responsible for operating heavy equipment to process organic materials into high-quality compost and mulch. This role requires a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and reporting any hazards or equipment issues to supervision.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and identify any necessary maintenance.
  • Work collaboratively with peers to achieve daily production goals and complete tasks efficiently.
  • Grade and process materials to meet quality standards, ensuring the production of high-quality compost and mulch.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to direct supervision.
  • Work overtime as needed to meet production demands.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating manuals, and maintenance instructions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Class A or B commercial driver's license.

Physical and Environmental Demands:

  • Standing, walking, sitting, seeing, hearing, touching, stooping, lifting, and smelling continuously.
  • Problem-solving, oral/written communication, analytical ability, concentration, and interpersonal abilities continuously.
  • Eye/hand coordination, visual depth perception, handling, and wrist motion continuously.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, chemicals, wet/hot conditions, windy conditions, and noise continuously.
  • Exposure to flying debris and sharp objects occasionally.
  • Works outside only.
