Job Summary

The Preoperative Nurse (Pre-op RN) plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical services. This individual is responsible for organizing and directing activities in accordance with nursing standards, Joint Commission, and Medicare guidelines. The Pre-op RN will admit, evaluate, assess, and teach patients to prepare them for their procedure or surgery. Additionally, they will perform CLIA waived laboratory testing as ordered and communicate patient assessment information to the attending physician.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee care for patients in the Preoperative and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
  • Provide care within nursing standards of practice and the policies of the Center
  • Makes decisions regarding direct patient care needs and communicates appropriate information to other team members and providers
  • May have additional responsibilities as designated by the manager, including serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits, and other projects
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing
  • Currently licensed in the state
  • CPR required, Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required
  • One year experience required in a perioperative setting
  • Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities

$32.50-$45.50 / hour
