Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fabrication Technician to join our team at Knapheide Manufacturing. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for operating laser equipment, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and identifying punch needs for our NC punch cell.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate laser equipment to fabricate parts and products
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols
  • Identify punch needs for our NC punch cell and communicate requirements to Manufacturing Engineering
  • Correct generic and standard routings, ensuring accurate production processes
  • Correct standard time estimates for fabricated parts, improving shop floor control and visibility
  • Identify tools and fixtures needed to effectively produce parts and products, communicating requirements to Manufacturing Engineering
  • Support the team process, collaborating with Coaches, Planners, and Managers to meet production demands
  • Continuously look for ways to improve productivity and quality, implementing better processes and techniques
  • Ensure all work is completed in a timely manner, avoiding delays in production
  • Provide feedback to Quoting and Custom Engineering on problems with designs and time estimates

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must have a good understanding of sheet metal processing, including fabrication and assembly. Strong print reading skills and the ability to recognize how to build products from drawings are essential. You should be PC literate and have familiarity with Knapheide products. Formal technical schooling is preferred, and at least 5 years of industrial sheet metal experience is required. You must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent time deadlines.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

This role requires normal standing, bending, walking, and lifting in an office environment. You must be able to verbally communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
