Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Engineer to join our Transportation, Engineering, and Development (TED) Business Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing maintenance and capital improvement programs for roadways, traffic signals, and bicycle and pedestrian facilities, reviewing development projects and permits, and addressing business and resident inquiries related to transportation and engineering matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct transportation studies and manage maintenance and capital improvement projects through all phases from concept to completion.
  • Perform engineering review of commercial and residential development plans and permit applications.
  • Interact with residents, property owners, and businesses to address transportation and engineering-related concerns and provide support to various City boards and commissions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, or a related transportation field.
  • One or more years' experience supporting civil engineering projects.
  • Possession of an Illinois Engineer Intern license.
  • A valid State of Illinois Driver's License.
Desired Qualifications
  • Strong analytical and communication skills and knowledge of project management principles.
  • Computer skills, report preparation experience, and experience interacting with the public and/or with project stakeholders.
