Public Health Data Analyst

DRT Strategies, Inc. is seeking a skilled Public Health Data Analyst to join our team. As a Public Health Data Analyst, you will work directly with public health professionals, data analysts, project coordinators, and developers to apply best practices for epidemiological and surveillance methods to data workflows.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of infectious disease or chronic disease epidemiology and relevant experience conducting public health surveillance, and/or utilizing electronic clinical and lab data to conduct surveillance efforts with public health agencies.
The Public Health Analyst will collaborate to design and implement health data systems, conduct quality reviews and testing of data sets and data structures, and recommend and implement solutions to meet public health requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with data analysts, subject matter experts, and technologists to determine and implement data structures.
- Conduct quality reviews and testing of data sets and data structures to ensure usefulness for public health analyses.
- Recommend and implement solutions to meet public health requirements.
- Collaborate to define and document requirements for public health surveillance data structures and workflows.
- Represent the public health viewpoint within interdisciplinary teams.
- Develop and manage a schedule to meet deliverables and establish estimated completion dates.
- Follow the government's software development lifecycle framework and provide agreed-upon project documentation.
- Complete tasks on time with minimal supervision but support collaboration across teams.
Requirements
- Must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust with the US federal government.
- Knowledge of infectious disease or chronic disease epidemiology and relevant experience conducting public health surveillance, and/or utilizing electronic clinical and lab data to conduct surveillance efforts with public health agencies.
- Knowledge of public health data and related privacy requirements (HIPAA, PII, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with public health aggregated estimate data.
- Recent experience with HHS data to include the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) environment and standards.
