Position Overview:
This role is essential in maintaining a safe and secure environment for all individuals within the facility.

Qualifications:
Education:
  • Required: High school diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field.

Experience:
  • Required: Six months in a customer service-related role demonstrating strong communication and de-escalation skills.
  • Preferred: One year of experience in roles such as Police Officer, Public Safety Officer, Corrections, School Security, Hospital Security, Corporate Security, or Military Experience.

Certifications and Licenses:
  • Required: Valid State of Michigan driver's license at the time of hire, with an acceptable driving record.
  • Preferred: Certification from the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) or equivalent, First Aid/CPR Certification, and Security Police Officer certification under relevant legislation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must have no criminal record and demonstrate good moral character.
  • Ability to pass psychological and medical evaluations prior to job offer.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and effectively prioritize tasks.

Training Requirements:
  • Complete internal Field Training Program.
  • Successfully pass IAHSS Basic Certification within the first six months of employment.
  • Complete Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training within the first six months of employment.
  • Complete Pressure Point Control Tactics (PPCT) Training within the first six months of employment.
  • Complete CPR Training within the first six months of employment.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and manage potentially volatile situations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Intervene with disorderly individuals using non-violent crisis intervention techniques.
  • Assist nursing staff with patient management and restraint as needed.
  • Conduct vehicle parking lot patrols and provide security escorts as required.
  • Greet and assist customers, visitors, and colleagues, ensuring a welcoming environment.
  • Provide information regarding security-sensitive issues and report incidents accurately.
