Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Paramedic Specialist to join our Emergency Department team at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. As a Paramedic Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in accordance with the Paramedic scope of practice, under the medical oversight of the Medical Director.
  • Assist clinical staff in the evaluation, treatment, and care of patients, including obtaining pertinent history and performing physical examinations.
  • Monitor patients and maintain accurate records using patient monitoring systems and electronic health records.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors, healthcare teams, physicians, administrators, and leadership to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Operate complex medical and mechanical equipment, ensuring proper function and maintenance.
  • Contribute to a safe and therapeutic environment by following infection control procedures and safety protocols.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities and support evidence-based practice initiatives.
  • Maintain certifications and clinical skills, and perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
  • Current North Carolina Paramedic credential or ability to obtain certification.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required upon hire.
  • Preferred one-year experience as a Paramedic or other relevant clinical experience.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
