About the Job

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position at McMenamins. The primary responsibility of the Kitchen Assistant Manager is to assist in all kitchen operations under the guidance and direction of the Chef/Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
  • Oversee the smooth and effective running of the shift, including managing staff, inventory, and supplies.
  • Act as the host and provide excellent customer service to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Perform opening and closing duties, including cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen.
  • Train staff on kitchen procedures and policies.
  • Regulate labor and food costs, and oversee side work and cleaning duties.
  • Deal with issues as they arise and report them to the head manager and district manager.
  • Provide excellent customer service to meet customer needs and requests.
Requirements
  • Obtain and maintain a current food-handlers card.
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent knowledge of food and cooking techniques is required.
  • Available to work full-time with a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Essential Functions
  • Provide excellent customer service in a high-volume environment.
  • Safely lift and carry heavy objects with a hand truck or the help of another person if necessary.
  • Work for long periods on feet, including frequent walking and stair climbing.
  • Accurately handle cash and work with numbers.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Perform repetitive movement, such as pushing, pulling, bending, some twisting, and stooping.
  • Perform fine hand manipulation, including handling small and large objects, computer keyboard usage, writing, chopping, and use of kitchen equipment.
  • Remain calm and focused in a high-volume, deadline-oriented work environment.
  • Effective shift supervision.
  • Working knowledge of all company policies and procedures.
  • Be positive, polite, and cooperative with co-workers, managers, vendors, and customers.
  • Work with and around sharp objects, including knives and slicers.
  • Work with chemicals used in cleaning and sanitizing.
