Sentara Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator for our Surgical Unit 1, specializing in Observation Short Stay. This is a Full-Time position with a Night shift schedule (12-hour shifts).
Sign-On Bonus: Qualified candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $20,000.
Unit Details: The Surgical Short Stay Unit, known as Wendell 2, is a 24-bed facility operating with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:5 or 1:6. This unit caters to short-stay patients across various specialties including Women's Health, Orthopedics/Spine, General Surgery, and Bariatrics. The fast-paced environment is ideal for those who thrive in dynamic settings. The unit is supported by Patient Care Technicians, Unit Coordinators, Resource Nurses, and an experienced Educator with over 20 years in the field. A robust orientation program ensures ongoing support and learning.
Role Responsibilities: As a Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator, you will exhibit expertise in nursing practices within your specialty area and provide clinical leadership in nursing care delivery. Responsibilities include:
- Leading safety and quality initiatives.
- Streamlining workflows to enhance efficiency.
- Contributing to staff development and satisfaction.
- Overseeing patient assessments, admissions, and medication administration.
- Engaging with family members regarding patient care.
Teamwork is paramount, and you will collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure optimal patient care.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Nursing degree.
- Active Registered Nurse License.
- A minimum of 18 months nursing experience.
- BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
