Purpose of Position: As a key member of the E&B Paving team, the Estimator plays a vital role in the company's overall operations. This individual serves as a customer service representative, interacting with both internal and external customers. External customers include new and existing clients, while internal customers are fellow coworkers and teammates. The Estimator's primary responsibility is to be actively involved in projects, from bidding to collection. This requires a deep understanding of all project aspects and the ability to offer assistance to the field when needed. Effective communication among all parties is crucial to success, encompassing both verbal and non-verbal communication methods, including the provision of necessary paperwork to the field. The Estimator must also learn to prioritize tasks and utilize their time efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Existing Business Relationships and Create New Opportunities: Foster strong relationships with existing clients and identify new business opportunities to drive growth and revenue.
  • Responsible for Takeoffs, Contacting Subcontractors, Contacting Suppliers, Estimating, and Project Management: Oversee the estimation process, including takeoffs, and manage projects from start to finish, ensuring timely completion and customer satisfaction.
  • Work Closely with Field Superintendents: Collaborate with field superintendents to ensure seamless project execution and address any issues that may arise.
  • Assist Contract Administrator with Billing and Receivables: Provide support to the contract administrator in managing billing and receivables, ensuring accurate and timely payment processing.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 Years' Experience Estimating and Managing INDOT, Municipal, and Commercial Projects or Equivalent Experience: Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in estimating and managing projects for INDOT, municipal, and commercial clients, or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Extensive Knowledge of INDOT Specifications, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project, as well as Digitizing Takeoff Software: Have in-depth knowledge of INDOT specifications and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project, as well as experience with digitizing takeoff software.
  • Self-Starter with Ability to Work Independently: Demonstrate the ability to work independently and take initiative in managing projects and tasks.
  • Strong Organizational and Time Management Skills: Possess excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent Communication Skills, Both Written & Verbal: Exhibit strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Construction-Related Field or Equivalent Related Experience: Hold a Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field or possess equivalent related experience. Professional Engineers with construction experience are preferred.
