Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Northwell Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a physician or appropriate clinician.

  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, ensuring cleanliness and availability of necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Interview patients to obtain medical information and perform measurement and screening procedures.
  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment.
  • Obtain patient vital statistics, including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and head circumference.
  • Record findings in patient medical records and inform clinicians of results.
  • Obtain patient specimens as directed by clinicians.
  • Collect laboratory specimens, complete requisitions, label, and route according to established procedures.
  • Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) as required.
  • Assist clinicians during examinations, procedures, and treatments as needed.
  • Secure necessary supplies, tools, and equipment for specific procedures.
  • Ensure patients are properly draped and positioned.
  • Provide requested instruments to clinicians during procedures and assist with patient positioning as required.
  • Assist patients after examinations, procedures, or treatments.
  • Prepare, sterilize, and calibrate equipment. Inform supervisors of malfunctioning equipment.
  • Maintain infection control standards while performing duties.
  • Perform related clerical duties to support operational needs.
  • Participate in patient registration, process insurance forms, certifications, physician orders, prescriptions, etc.
  • Ensure required patient information and documentation is available in medical records.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
  • Answer phone calls, place, receive, and direct as necessary.
  • File, copy, and distribute documentation as required.
Salary and Benefits
