As a Perinatal Sonographer at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound services to our patients. Under indirect and direct supervision, you will operate diagnostic ultrasound equipment to perform a variety of routine and specialized technical procedures. Your expertise will be essential in achieving high-quality images for detailed fetal anatomic surveys, transvaginal ultrasounds, biophysical profiles, specialized Doppler studies, chorionic villus sampling, amniocentesis, and other procedures as needed.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure patient safety in the preparation and provisioning of care related to medications, procedures, infection prevention, fall prevention, and consistent use of two patient identifiers and procedural time outs.
- Review patients' medical records to obtain and record identifying information required for perinatology, instruct patients in preparing for examination, and explain procedures to be performed.
- Position patients to obtain desired images in accordance with physicians' instructions.
- Operate, calibrate, adjust, and maintain ultrasound equipment.
- Perform calculations and measurements to appropriately focus the exam and obtain the data needed.
- May perform other duties within the department as requested.
- Minimum of two (2) years of Perinatal Sonographic experience required.
- Per the National Agreement, current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived.
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
- Two (2) years of college-level education or equivalent experience in a healthcare field.
- Completion of an approved training program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent program.
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate - Ob-Gyn from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
- Reg Diagnostic Med Sonographer Fetal Echocardiography Certification within 12 months of hire from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
- Credentialed in Nuchal Translucency as granted by the Nuchal Translucency Quality Review or other credentialing body preferred for external and internal candidates.
