Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Alden Courts and Gardens of Des Plaines. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will provide direct care to our customers and supervise the daily activities of our nursing assistants.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to customers, including administering medications and treatments as ordered by physicians.
  • Supervise and instruct nursing assistants on various topics to promote job knowledge and ensure adherence to established policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for each customer, identifying their problems and needs.
  • Conduct daily rounds to ensure nursing personnel are performing required duties and procedures are being followed.
  • Collaborate with physicians to review treatment plans, record orders, and progress notes.
  • Chart nurses' notes in a clear and descriptive manner, reflecting the care provided and the customer's response.
  • Complete required assessments upon admission, transfer, and discharge.
  • Perform routine charting duties, including medication records and stop order policies.
  • Administer professional services, such as catheterization, tube feedings, and wound care.
  • Participate in the orientation of new customers and family members to the facility.
  • Arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services as ordered by physicians.
  • Notify customers' attending physicians and family members of changes in condition.
Requirements
  • Current, unencumbered license to practice as a RN or LPN in the State of Illinois and/or Wisconsin.
  • Current CPR certificate or ability to become certified within two weeks of employment.
  • Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner.
  • Leadership and supervisory ability, with a willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
  • Physical ability to move intermittently throughout the workday and cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
