Job Summary

As a Radiologic Technologist at Henry Ford Health System, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to patients. Under the direction of a Radiologist, you will perform radiologic procedures to evaluate pathological entities as ordered by a physician. Your expertise will be essential in determining appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for the examination.
  • Review clinical data on requisitions and perform appropriate examinations, obtaining additional information about patient medical history as necessary.
  • Prepare procedure rooms and regularly replenish stock, including linen and related supplies.
  • Analyze anatomical structures of patients, set up equipment, and perform radiologic procedures, manually controlling equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information.
  • Select and administer intravenous contrast media, monitoring patients for possible reactions and providing immediate care if necessary.
  • Perform all imaging procedures, demonstrating principles of radiation protection, including shielding patients, selecting appropriate equipment settings, and using other ALARA techniques.
  • Prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for procedures, following department infection control practices and techniques.
  • Complete all necessary work sheets, logs, patient records, and documentation.
  • Assume responsibility for teaching and educating new hires and students, maintaining own responsibilities and duties.
  • Resolve image exceptions and ensure high-quality image delivery into PACS, including viewing images into PACS and confirming image/series counts.
  • Complete study indexing, including study begin, study end, and completion of studies in the Radiology Information System.
  • Review and confirm clinical protocols with Radiologists before performing studies.
  • Demonstrate Team member standards of excellence, including AIDET, open communication, responding in a timely manner, displaying a positive attitude, fostering innovation, and respecting diversity.
  • Perform all documentation in medical records and radiology information systems to support clinical and billing functions.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
  • Maintain required hours of continued education.
  • Registered in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or registry eligible, with registry obtained within 6 months of date of hire.
  • Healthcare Provider certification required (BCLS).
