Candidates should possess substantial expertise and investigative background in areas such as organized crime, narcotics distribution, financial crimes, gang-related activities, and violent offenses.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support investigators and Assistant District Attorneys in the assembly of materials for trial. This includes conducting surveillance, monitoring legally sanctioned wiretaps, scrutinizing business documentation, collecting evidence, and engaging in sensitive undercover operations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience with judicial processes and criminal trials, assisting in case preparation for court and providing effective testimony.
  • Conduct particularly challenging and highly confidential investigations along with comprehensive research projects.
  • Compile reports and maintain necessary records of activities.
  • Perform related tasks and any additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Prior experience in law enforcement or criminal justice, specifically related to organized crime, narcotics distribution, and financial crimes.
  • In-depth understanding of the application of laws pertaining to criminal offenses is required.
  • A valid NYS driver's license is mandatory, and U.S. citizenship is required as per NY Public Officers Law 2, §3-B.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills are required.
  • All candidates must successfully complete a medical examination, drug screening, physical and psychological fitness assessments, and an extensive background investigation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current NYS Police Officer certification is preferred.
  • A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Graduation from high school or its equivalent, along with three years of full-time, paid experience in law enforcement or investigative roles, with at least one year in rackets or police investigations.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may be considered, but candidates must have full-time, paid experience in rackets or police investigative work.
ADDITIONAL EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Critical thinking skills and strong research capabilities are essential.
  • A valid NYS driver's license is required.
  • Candidates must pass a medical examination, drug test, psychological evaluation, and an extensive background check.
  • U.S. citizenship is required as per NY Public Officers Law 2, §3-B.
  • Flexibility in working hours is necessary.
  • Willingness to perform overtime as directed by a Supervisor or Chief Level Investigator is expected.
