Job Summary:

As a Sterile Processing Technician at WMC Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of patient safety and care. Your primary responsibility will be to process and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment, adhering to strict infection control practices and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Disassemble, clean, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring thorough inspection for sharpness, functionality, and integrity.

• Demonstrate knowledge of packaging techniques, including wrapping, containers, and labeling, to ensure proper safeguarding of instruments and equipment.

• Ensure correct set labels are affixed on appropriate packs or containers, and that all instruments and equipment are properly tested for bioburden residual.

• Participate in quality assurance programs, including random audits of sample trays, to ensure quality and efficacy of sterilization equipment.

• Maintain accurate records and documentation, including sterilization records, temperature recordings, and efficacy test results.

Requirements:

• One year of experience in Sterile Processing and/or surgical instrument reprocessing preferred.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Certification in Sterile Processing, such as IAHCSMM or CBSPD, preferred. If not certified, must attain certification status within 18 months of employment.

• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality of medical and patient information.

• Ability to read, write, communicate, and follow written and oral instruction in English language.
